2014 awards inspirational

Page history last edited by PEI RoadRunners Club 8 years, 9 months ago

Congratulations to the entire Peterson family for being selected as the 2014 winner of the Ewen Stewart Inspirational Runner(s) of the year award!

It is rare nowadays to see an entire family spending quality time together. The Peterson's are not only unique in the fact they inspire others to run, but they inspire other runners to take their families to races. Jocelyn, Mike, Samuel, Sophie and Anna are always ready to race. Not only are they each very strong runners, but they are kind and embrace other PEI RoadRunners with smiles, encouragement, and are just really genuine people.

Their dedication to the sport is unquestionable.  They are in regular attendance at road races, but behind the scenes there is a lot of training that happens.  Both marathon runners, Jocelyn and Mike have shown great dedication to training.  Everyone knows the time, effort, and grit it takes to train for a marathon.

The passion that Jocelyn, Mike, Samuel, Anna, and Sophie show is evident.  Their smiles are infectious and their attitudes are positive.  The core family values set an example for others.
One nominee even stated, “I have had to opportunity to make a connection with Samuel outside of the running community, and I could not speak more highly of a well rounded, respectful young man”.   As well, when Anna was born, it was not long afterwards that either Mike or Jocelyn was pushing her to the finish line, and then proud brother Samuel or sister Sophie was unbuckling the stroller straps to hold her.

Each of the Peterson members seem to have a drive and quiet competitiveness to fuel their own fire. They are continually setting new goals, and reaching them. This is a family that truly deserves this award. They have kind hearts, great races results, and great core family values. We are so happy that they have become a part of the Roadrunner community, and look forward to their next  race to see them on the course, and what they can accomplish to empower others to take on a healthy family activity.

Once again, congratulations from all of us and the Island Marathon sponsor for being the recipients of this award.
