President's Report

Wednesday, August 10th, 2016

Races added to schedule since last meeting:

  • Mount Edward Grocery Memorial 5 Miler

  • The Road to Cavendish

Races Run since last meeting:

  • Cox & Palmer (144 + 66)

  • Somerset (36) (RR results)

  • Dunk River (65)

  • Georgetown 5K & 10K (67F + 17r = 84) (RR results)

  • Brookvale Ultra (60+66+14=140 finishers. 152+ registered) (RR results)

  • Tyne Valley Oyster Shuffle

  • Mount Edward Grocery (60) (RR results)

I attended Dunk River, Brookvale & Mount Edward Grocery. All were as very well organized & executed as usual. I did results for Somerset, Georgetown, Brookvale & Mount Edward Grocery.

Cox & Palmer & Somerset were the same day. Because C&P was chip timed and Somerset was on the trail they were easily able to split the equipment.

Dunk River & Georgetown were also the same day. Again, because Dunk River was chip timed (and because Georgetown could use the Marathon signs) they easily split the equipment.

Brookvale & The Oyster Shuffle were also the same day. The Oyster Shuffle requested no equipment & had bibs & pins from 2015 to use. Brookvale used signs & the clock. The clock quit when it hit 4 hours. Brookvale attendance was up, as it has been every year, but way up this year. The dropout rate was also up.

Mount Edward Grocery was the first race to use the new arch.

This coming Month:

  • Gold Cup trot 5K (now a Points Race)

  • Kensington Harvest Festival 25K

  • Desmond Baglole Scenic Road Run

  • The Road To Cavendish (New)

  • Red Sea Run (New)

Not yet on schedule:

  • Mikinduri

  • Vernon River

  • Wally Rodd

276 Members – up 8 since last meeting

Equipment –

Gantry – Miguel delivered it Sat, Aug 6th and helped me pick out the ropes, caribeners and extension cords to g with it then gave me a lesson in inflating & deflating it. I went to the beach & filled the 6 sandbags for it. Big, big thanks to Miguel & Troy at Atlantic Chip Sport Timing for this wonderful donation to our Club! I purchased 4 ropes, 6 sandbags & two 15m extension cords ($119.05) to go with it..

The clock quit at 4 hours exactly at Brookvale. Jamie thinks it's the battery and gave me the info on where to get a replacement (in Moncton). I happened to be going to Moncton so got it & installed it ($37.95).

--Jamie also gave me the info on where to get replacement plexiglass for clock. We should buy one. Because that side is in pieces I was afraid to take it out to see if I could fix the numbers, I'll do that when I replace the glass. “The replacement window for that Raceclock is part #850-009-XL and they

are $45.00 each plus shipping.  There is also the $25.00 international handing charge if shipping to

you in Canada. Payment would be by a credit card - we accept American Express, MasterCard,

Visa, check in advance drawn on a U.S. bank or a bank transfer of funds.” (2013)

--I made a new rain cover for the clock ($3 in material)

My expenses : (see above) total $164.48
