Cox and Palmer Rookie of the year award goes to Vanessa Foster.
Vanessa is an excellent runner, a team player, very knowledgeable and willing to help others. She has improved as a runner.
Prior to 2015, Vanessa usually ran only shorter distances. But in 2015 she got involved with a group of runners at the Running Room and started running longer distances. She even completed a half marathon during Maritime Race weekend, by mistake. She did this having only trained for the 10k distance and still had a very strong finish in 1:48:39 with lots of energy left.
Vanessa was also top female at the Cox and Palmer 10k race this past season with a time of 44:57. She came in first for her age division at the Bluenose 5K in 21:07 and was the 2:45 pace bunny for the Half Marathon there. Vanessa was second for her age group at Saint John’s Marathon By the Sea 10K in 46:58.
Vanessa has helped to train other runners to reach their PBs at different runs. She is a great at motivating all fellow runners and encouraging them to do their best.
Vanessa is truly an inspiration and well deserving of this award. Congratulations Vanessa!
