The Couch to 5K beginner's running schedule by Josh Clark at Cool Running has helped thousands of runners get off the couch and onto the roads, running 5K in 9 weeks. It is similar to the Learn to Run 5K (10 week program)
Because it is so well established there are a number of sites, supports and features that accompany the "C25K" plan. Some are specific to this plan, but some will be useful with any learn to run plan.
