The PEI RoadRunners Club is please to present Jen Nicholson with the 2009 Good Guys Auto Glass Female RoadRunner of the Year Award.

Training, Racing and Improvement:

Jen won all but one race she entered this past year (she was

second in the 15K in Grand Digue). And not only did she win all those races, no other female even came close!!! She made Islanders proud by winning the Bluenose Marathon in Halifax in an excellent time of 3 hours. But that was just the warm up run!

She made us proud again by breaking her own course record at the PEI Marathon. Jen ran the marathon in a time of 2 hrs 53 minutes. She was ranked 27th in Canada for this race result by Marathon Canada.

For anyone to run a marathon in under 3 hours is incredible. For a woman to do it is amazing: a true test of athleticism, strength and will. Just 5 short years ago, Jen had no idea she would be so fast!

Assistance with Club Activities:

Jen sets a good example, volunteering with her kids at several of the RoadRunner races. And when she is not racing, she is often out cheering on other runner in their races.

Interest in Running and Helping Beginners:

Jen inspires us all by being so naturally talented and yet so humble about it all. What she has accomplished in terms of race times in such a short amount of time is incredible. Not to mention the fact that she has a busy career as a teacher, and is

the mom to 3 active children.  Jen sends a very positive message to all runners, but especially to the growing population of young female runners. With

dedication and hard work there is no telling what you can accomplish! Maybe we can't all be as fast as Jen, but we can feel just as good when we set and accomplish our running goals.

Always gives her Best:

Jen’s training partners (those poor girls!!) will attest that she's just like the rest of us. Despite all her wins, she never considers herself better than any other runner, and never considers winning a given. She may make it look easy, but she too has an

occasional bad day, or bad race. She knows the value of hard work and a run well done. Jen represents all that we love about PEI's running community: she always tries her best and in so doing, encourages us to do the same.

We think this is a title she truly deserves! And Jen, it gives us great pleasure to present you with the 2009 Good Guys Auto Glass Female RoadRunner of the Year Award.

Congratulations Jen!
